Aston Villa have started the season poorly under Steve Bruce’s guidance.

Steve Bruce, manager of Aston Villa talks to the press during a press conference at the club's training ground at Bodymoor Heath on August 10, 2018 in Birmingham, England.

Aston Villa fans have taken aim at Steve Bruce’s defence of himself, after the claret and blues’ 4-1 defeat against Sheffield United at the weekend.

Villa were thoroughly outplayed at Bramall Lane, as they fell to another disappointing result.

The pressure is building on Bruce, after Villa’s disappointing start to the season.

And his defence of his own management has not gone down well among Villa fans.

Bruce said to the West Midlands Sport after the game: “I can understand their frustration. It was only two weeks ago they were saying it’s the best we’ve seen Aston Villa playing for years. We will get better the longer it goes. I’m convinced at that.”

But the comments were not enough to keep Villa fans at all satisfied.

Bruce’s future is now firmly in the balance, with Villa having great ambitions for the season ahead.

Defeats against Burton Albion and Sheffield United in their last two fixtures have left questions being asked of the experienced manager.

Villa return from the international break with a match against Blackburn Rovers.
