But Bruce’s suggestion that his side need to buy a new number nine has not gone down well.
Villa fans feel that Bruce has more than enough options at the club to cope in the Championship, and that he should simply concentrate on getting the best out of what he already has at Villa Park.
Bruce simply has to find the winning formula sooner rather than later at Villa, otherwise he will surely face the sack.
The Midlands side are next in action this weekend, when they take on Norwich City.
