Aston Villa supporters on Twitter have provided mixed thoughts on rumours that star striker Jonathan Kodjia could leave the club this month.

French outlet, Ouest France claims that the 29-year-old is ‘unhappy’ with his playing time under recently appointed manager Dean Smith and would be interested in a move.

It is said Ligue 1 said Angers are interested in bringing their former player back to the club, with Kodjia seeking regular game time so he can make Ivory Coast’s AFCON’s squad this summer.

Kodjia has started just two matches under Smith since the start of December and he has only scored two goals since he arrived at the club in October.

In Villa’s first season in the Championship, Kodjia was a key player for the club netting 19 goals from his 40 league matches before injury struck towards the back end of the 2016/17 campaign.

That injury filtered through to the 2017/18 season as he struggled for fitness and sharpness throughout the campaign as the club’s senior man could now potentially depart after nearly three seasons at the club.

One Villa supporter stated that Villa ‘need’ Kodjia’s attacking presence in the squad, while another was happy to ‘drive him’ to his destination.

Another Villa fan agreed that they would ‘sell’ Kodjia if they had a choice, but others felt it would be ‘criminal’ to let him leave this month.
