Aston Villa fans on Twitter have offered their thoughts on the rumours that the club want to sign Brentford’s Romaine Sawyers.

Aston Villa supporters on Twitter have reacted with mixed emotions to reports that the club wants to sign Brentford midfielder Romaine Sawyers in January.
Sky Sports claim that Villa manager Dean Smith wants to reunite with his former player when the transfer window re-opens next month.
It is said Smith is keen on working with the 27-year-old for a third time, with Midlands rivals West Brom still keen on his services after showing interest in the player in the summer.
Smith moved to Villa Park from the London club in October and has worked with Sawyers at Griffin Park and during his time at League One Walsall.
The 25-cap Saint Kitts international has been a regular feature for Brentford during this campaign, both under Smith and now Thomas Frank, playing 23 matches and supplying three assists for his teammates.
One Villa fans stated that Sawyers’ potential arrival would be a ‘great signing’, whilst another stated that the Midlands club ‘don’t need him’.
Another supporter thinks Sawyers will be ‘cover’ for the currently injured Jack Grealish, who has missed his side’s last three encounters.
Smith has the likes of Grealish, John McGinn, Conor Hourihane, Birkir Bjarnason, Glenn Whelan, Henri Lansbury and Mile Jedinak at his disposal to play in the middle of the park.

But a number of those players have struggled with injuries or a lack of form, whilst the experienced Jedinak is yet to feature under his new manager.
Here is the Twitter reaction from some Villa fans on the rumoured interest in Sawyers:
