Aston Villa fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to the dismissal of Roberto Di Matteo as the manager.

Villa announced on their official website on Monday morning that they have parted company with Di Matteo. Steve Clarke will take over as caretaker manager during the search for a new boss.

The former West Bromwich Albion and Chelsea manager was appointed the Villa boss in the summer following the relegation of the club from the Premier League to the Championship at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

Much was expected under the Italian, but results so far this season have been hugely disappointing. Villa are 19th in the Championship table at the moment with just 10 points from 11 matches.

The Villans are only two points above the relegation zone and are in danger of going down to League One at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
