Aston Villa fans have been heaping praise upon Robert Snodgrass on Twitter after watching Steve Bruce’s side move themselves up to fourth in the Championship with a win over Sunderland.

Sunderland may have been bottom of the second tier going into the contest, but the Villans would have been forgiven for being wary of the Black Cats as they undoubtedly would have gained a boost from the recent managerial appointment of Chris Coleman at the Stadium of Light.

However, Villa picked up another three points, and Snodgrass was integral to that as he contributed the assist for both goals in the 2-1 victory that leaves Bruce’s men five points clear of the cluster of sides chasing the play-off places.

Though the second assist was a simple pass for Josh Onomah, the first was a touch of top flight class from the winger as he played a sumptuous ball into the box that found Albert Adomah at the back post and gave the winger a simple finish.

Unsurprisingly, his performance has been lauded on social media with many Villa fans delighted that they have managed to sign the winger on loan for the season as he appears to have the quality to play at a higher level.

And if he continues to impress, it would hardly be a surprise if Bruce asks the board to consider trying to bring the Scotsman in on a permanent basis at some stage.
