Some Aston Villa fans are pleased that Carles Gil could return, as they still think he could have a part to play.

Gil has been loaned out by Steve Bruce, with the Spaniard spending the season on loan at Deportivo.

The attacking midfielder has played 10 times in La Liga this season, but he has failed to keep Depor in Spain’s top flight.

Marca now claim that the deal Deportivo had in place to buy Gil permanently no longer stands, due to their relegation.

And some Villa fans feel that the 25-year-old could yet have a chance to make an impact at Villa Park.

Gil showed flashes of quality during his first spell with Villa, when he made 34 appearances and scored three times.

The midfielder has spent the last two seasons out on loan in Spain, but could return with Villa back in the Premier League.

In Gil’s absence, Bruce’s side have managed to mount a promotion push in the Championship, and have already banked a place in the play offs.
