A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to react to reports from the Daily Mail which suggested that they are interested in Leeds star Kalvin Phillips following their promotion to the Premier League.

The Whites will be hoping to follow up the announcement that Marcelo Bielsa will be staying at Elland Road for another season by holding onto all of their key players who looked set to get them across the line in the promotion race this past season.

But Villa are seemingly hoping to take the star who arguably established himself as the most important player in Bielsa’s system, with the Daily Mail reporting that Dean Smith is keen on landing Phillips this summer.

The Mail suggested that Smith wants young, hungry players who can make the step up, and he clearly feels that Phillips is the kind of signing who would help the Villans reestablish themselves at the highest level.

And there are plenty of supporters who feel exactly the same. Several have suggested that the Leeds ace is exactly the kind of player that they should be looking to target following his outstanding campaign.

There are some who are underwhelmed by the reports, but the large majority believe that it would be a fantastic piece of business if Villa managed to convince the Whites to sell the academy graduate during the coming months.
