A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to react to the reports from The Sun this weekend which have suggested that the Villans are currently leading the race to sign Joe Aribo from Charlton Athletic.

Aribo appears to be one of the most highly sought-after youngsters in the Football League, with an impressive queue of clubs forming in the chase for his signature.

The Sun reports that Manchester City, Celtic and Rangers all want the 22-year-old, who is out of contract at the Valley at the end of the season, but it is Villa who lead the charge.

The report notes that Dean Smith wishes to sign the 10-goal revelation regardless of whether they remain in the Championship or win the play-off final and secure a return to the Premier League this summer.

And the majority of Villa supporters on social media appear to be delighted that he seems to be on their radar. Those who have seen Aribo play for the Addicks believe that he has an incredibly bright future ahead.

And while a couple of fans are underwhelmed about the prospect of the club signing a player who has most recently played in League One, one supporter looked to remind Aribo’s doubters of how little fanfare greeted John McGinn’s arrival at the club last summer, and how well that deal turned out.
