Aston Villa fans slated Jordan Ayew on Twitter yesterday.

Aston Villa left it late to beat Wigan Athletic on Saturday as Jack Grealish’s wonder goal on 88 minutes snatched a 1-0 win at Villa Park.

The 21-year-old midfielder found the top corner from just outside the box as Steve Bruce’s side moved within three points of the top six in the Championship.

There were a number of rather low-key performances from Aston Villa players, but nobody came in for as much criticism as Jordan Ayew it would seem.

The 25-year-old somehow lasted the full 90 minutes in spite of the fact that he did not appear to have much of an impact on the game whatsoever.

The Ghanian, a £9 million signing under Tim Sherwood 18 months back, has been getting regular football since Bruce replaced Roberto Di Matteo at the beginning of October.

But it would appear as if Aston Villa fans are losing their patience with the man.

The former Marseille winger has only netted twice in 18 Championship appearances for Aston Villa this season, though he does have four assists under his belt.

Still, he probably needs to be doing a little bit more in order to justify the faith which Bruce repeatedly shows in him.
