The defender’s Greek odyssey has not lasted long.
Joleon Lescott has left Greek side AEK Athens on a free transfer after just three months at the club – much to the delight of Aston Villa fans.
The centre-back left Villa on a free transfer in the summer after the club’s relegation from the Premier League. He performed poorly throughout his spell at Villa Park and he was a very unpopular figure among the Villa fans.

This was due to largely to his actions off the pitch. He tweeted a picture of an expensive car after they were thrashed by Liverpool and then described the club’s eventual relegation as a weight off his shoulders. Way to win the fans around.
He was released at the end of last season and a move to Rangers failed to materialise. The former England international then joined AEK Athens in August on a two-year deal.
Aston Villa’s Joleon Lescott looks dejected
In October he suffered a knee injury and that caused some major problems in the Greek capital, with the Birmingham Mail reporting that Lescott’s contract with the Greek side may be terminated as he has fallen out with the club over his injury treatment.
The BBC has now confirmed he has left the Greek capital and Aston Villa fans are revelling in his misfortune.
Perhaps he can find better luck at his next club…
