The transfer of Joleon Lescott to AEK Athens was announced today via the Greek club’s official website.
The 34-year old departs Villa Park after just one season, following his arrival from West Brom last summer.
Things didn’t go exactly to plan for the former Everton and Manchester City star in his stint with his ‘boyhood’ club and Villa fans quickly turned against the centre-back after a series of gaffes.

Lescott was unable to prevent the Villans from finishing bottom of the Premier League and angered the club’s support with several social media comments.
The Tony Xia revolution has seen the likes of Tommy Elphick and James Chester arrive, pushing Lescott further away from a first-team place.
