Aston Villa right-back was taken off after 70 minutes.
Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce
Aston Villa slumped to a 3-1 loss against Fulham yesterday, putting an end to their already slim play-off chances.
They were not helped by a red card to star striker Jonathan Kodjia, while poor performances from both full-backs left the defence exposed.
Jordan Amavi has been poor for a while now, failing to match the performances he delivered under Tim Sherwood in the Premier League before sustaining a serious injury.
Right-back James Bree is a lesser known quantity, having struggled to make an impact since signing from Barnsley in January.
Aston Villa’s Alan Hutton
Billed as a long term replacement for Alan Hutton, Bree has only made five starts for Villa, and this was his first appearance for the club since mid-March.
Fulham made it tough for the teenager, and he was hooked after 70 minutes for Hutton.
Bree was the only Villa defender to fail to win a tackle, with Hutton winning two in his 20 minutes on the pitch.
Fans remain unconvinced about the 19-year-old, although also criticised Steve Bruce for taking him off rather than letting Bree see out the game.
Here is a look at the reaction to his performance…
