Aston Villa fans on Twitter are excited about the emergence of Jake Doyle-Hayes.

The 18-year-old midfielder started in Germany as Aston Villa thrashed Duisberg 3-0 to move into the Cup of Traditions final.

Doyle-Hayes, a regular in the Villans’ Under-23 squad last season, also set up Scott Hogan for one of the striker’s two goals this afternoon.

And fans of the West Midlands club certainly liked what they saw from the teenage starlet.

Doyle-Hayes might be a big talent, but Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce is unlikely to use him regularly next season.

The reality of the situation is that Villa will be looking to win promotion to the Premier League and the Championship is a hard division to get out of, as they discovered last term.

But experience can go a long, long way in achieving that and perhaps that is why Bruce has brought in John Terry, Christopher Samba, Ahmed Elmohamady and Glenn Whelan, who plays in Doyle-Hayes’s position.
