Aston Villa fans on Twitter have waxed-lyrical about Jacob Ramsey’s performance during his side’s 4-1 win over Reading in the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday night.

The 17-year-old midfielder netted a brace and set-up a goal as the Villa youngsters cruised into the next round of the cup competition.

Earlier on Tuesday, Villa had announced on their official website that their highly-rated teenager had penned a new long-term contract with the club.

The attack-minded player celebrated that new deal by producing a brilliant display in the middle of the park to take his tally for the season to seven goals.

Villa supporters on Twitter raved about his performance and the teams display in general, with one fan stating that the youngsters ‘cut teams open’, while the senior side ‘can’t string two passes together’.

Another supporter felt it was a great way for Ramsey to celebrate his new deal, while another ambitiously urged Dean Smith to ‘pick him’ for their Saturday clash at home to Hull City.

Here is a selection of Villa supporters on Twitter reacting to Ramsey’s performance in the Youth Cup:

Over the course of the season, Ramsey has played 15 games in all competitions, staring in the U18’s Premier League as well as Premier League 2.

During his nine games for the U18’s, he has scored four goals and supplied one assist. In PL2, he has been used in a more sporadic manner, but he netted during his last outing against Stoke City.
