Aston Villa will be preparing for their playoff semi-final showdown against West Brom this Saturday.
Aston Villa supporters on Twitter are delighted to hear reports that their star man Jack Grealish has a release clause of £60 million in his contract.
The Mirror claims that Grealish’s clause will stun potential suitors Tottenham Hotspur, who were keen to add the highly-rated playmaker to their ranks last summer.
Amid Villa’s financial problems following their play-off final defeat to Fulham last May, it seemed likely that their academy product was heading for the exit door, but new owners saw Grealish stay at the club.
It has proven to be a brilliant move because he has helped Villa into the playoffs and captained them to 10 wins on the bounce when he returned from injury in March.
Villa supporters will be well aware that a failure to reach the Premier League for the second season running will only increase Grealish’s chances of leaving the club.
But putting that aside, it is fair to say that the Villa Park faithful were glad to hear that the board have shown ambition by inserting such a strong clause in Grealish’s contract.

Grealish was rested for Villa’s final game of the season which saw them lose 2-1 against champions Norwich City. Dean Smith will be hoping to join the club in the Premier League next season.
But, at this moment in time, West Brom and then either Leeds or Derby County stand in their way of reaching England’s top-flight.
