Everton midfielder impressed in win over Sunderland.

Former Aston Villa midfielder Idrissa Gueye turned on a masterclass as Everton beat Sunderland 3-0 last night.
Gueye was magnificent as the Toffees secured an impressive away win, providing an assist for Romelu Lukaku’s first goal of his hat-trick.
Last season Gueye made a name for himself by recording high statistics in terms of tackles (108) and interceptions (141), but it counted for little as his side Aston Villa were relegated after winning just three games out of 38.

Yet Everton acted shrewdly this summer to trigger a release clause in Gueye’s contract at £7.1 million, effectively taking a gamble on the midfielder to see if he could make more of an impact within a better team.
So far it is going well, with Gueye’s 15 tackles won placing him at the very top of the Premier League tackling charts.
He was excellent against Sunderland last night, with the Black Cats struggling to cope with him, and looks to be a shrewd acquisition for Everton.

Aston Villa will already be regretting the release clause they inserted in his contract which allowed him to leave to cheaply, with Gueye making the most of his second chance at Premier League football.
With the game screened live on Monday Night Football, Aston Villa fans got a look at their former star in action.
