Aston Villa were beaten 2-1 by Brentford at Griffin Park yesterday.

Glenn Whelan has taken a hammering from Aston Villa fans on social media website Twitter, after his display against Brentford yesterday.
Villa were beaten 2-1 at Griffin Park, and Whelan failed to impress in the contest.
The Republic of Ireland international gave the ball away for the first goal which Villa conceded, and he never seemed to recover from that error.

Whelan has been a favourite of Steve Bruce’s ever since he arrived from Stoke City during the summer transfer window.
However, it seems that the experienced central midfielder still has a lot of work to do before he wins over the claret and blues’ fan base.
Whelan came in for a lot of stick during his initial few months at Villa, but he seemed to be winning his critics around more recently.
A poor run of form seems to have seen Whelan become unpopular at Villa Park again though, and it remains to be seen if Bruce will keep picking the defensive midfielder now.
Villa’s defeat to Brentford means that they have now failed to win any of their last five matches.
Bruce’s side are next in action on Saturday, when they take on fellow promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough.
