Aston Villa fans are generally pleased to hear that they are planning to release Gabriel Agbonlahor.

According to the Telegraph, Agbonlahor will be made a free agent at the end of the season, which will end his 17-year stay at Villa.

Although some claret and blues fans are keen to focus on the good times Agbonlahor has provided, others have been more scathing with their judgements.

Agbonlahor has offered very little to Villa over recent years, and most supporters are glad to see that he is going to be off the wage bill.

Agbonlahor is one of Villa’s top earners, so his exit should free up Steve Bruce to make additions to his squad.

The claret and blues are limited with how much they can spend due to Financial Fair Play, which means that they need to reduce some of their expenditure.

Agbonlahor is set to depart Villa having scored 86 times in 391 appearances for the claret and blues.
