Aston Villa released their team photo for 2016/17 yesterday, and the inclusion of Gabby Agbonlahor took many aback.

Agbonlahor is not a popular figure at the club after his listless performances last season, and an attitude off the pitch which caused many to question if he was bothered by the club’s demise.

There was little interest in his services from clubs in the summer, and he remains on their books, although has not played a single minute this season.

Despite this he was included in Aston Villa’s squad photo, which was released yesterday and posted by the club’s official twitter feed.

Villa fans were surprised to see Agbonlahor included to say the least. The Sun reported earlier this month that he had no future at the club and is not expected play again for the team.

Here is a look at how fans reacted to the striker’s presence…

If Agbonlahor was hoping negative sentiment towards him would have subsided over the summer he was clearly mistaken.

With little chance of featuring this season, his best option would be to push for a move as soon as the transfer window re-opens in January, or even negotiate to cancel his contract and become a free agent and start afresh entirely.
