A number of Aston Villa fans appear to be extremely excited about reports emerging from Birmingham Live which have suggested that Dean Smith is keen on a January loan move for Ethan Ampadu.

Ampadu is one of the brightest prospects in a Chelsea squad that boasts an incredible amount of depth amongst the youth ranks. Of course, many of those are out on loan.

The Wales international appears destined to be one of the rare talents who forces his way into the first-team in the future. But the former Exeter City youngster could potentially find himself plying his trade in the Championship during the second-half of the campaign.

Birmingham Live reports that the Villans are one of the second tier sides interested in bringing Ampadu in on loan in January, which will be Smith’s first window at the helm since arriving from Brentford.

The news that Ampadu is a reported target has gone down well amongst the supporters on Twitter. Some are not convinced that the teenager is what they need, but many believe that he would be an excellent addition.

He is capable of playing in defence or midfield. And with Villa lacking depth at centre-back, his versatility could make him an important player if Chelsea give Smith and John Terry the green light to take the 18-year-old.
