Aston Villa supporters on Twitter have reacted with joy to Dean Smith’s transfer comments that the club are yet to ‘do more’ business this summer as they prepare for the Premier League.

Since their promotion, Villa have signed eight players, as they are seemingly on the hunt for more additions to their squad, with defensive-midfield an area that needs to resolved.

Nonetheless, Smith’s transfer comments, as posted by Villa’s official Twitter account, were well received by the supporters who are just glad they have the boyhood fan in charge.

This time last summer, Villa would have been trying to get themselves out of a financial mess after they failed to earn promotion to the Premier League.

But a lot can happen in 12 months, and Villa have proved that. They are now signing some of the best talents in Europe and have a forward-thinking manager at their disposal, who is ready to take the Premier League head-on.

Despite only joining the club last October, Smith has done a hell of a lot during that period, as Villa fans backed him to continue his worth both on the training pitch and in the transfer market.

The latest player to put pen-to-paper was centre-back Bjorn Engels, who signed on Tuesday and seemingly took Villa’s spending towards the £100 million mark, as reported by Sky Sports.
