Aston Villa fans do not appear to want Costel Pantilimon on loan from Watford next season.

According to the printed edition of The Sun (page 59, June 3rd), Villa are keen to snap up Pantilimon.

But claret and blues fans do not seem to be at all interested in the rangy stopper being brought to Villa Park.

Villa had Sam Johnstone on loan from Manchester United last term, and most supporters of the Midlands club were desperate for him to come back.

Villa fans can’t help but feel that bringing in Pantilimon would be a downgrade, and there are fears over Steve Bruce’s transfer targets now he has a limited budget.

Villa are having to cut costs this summer to fit in with Financial Fair Play regulations.

Pantilimon could be made available, as he appears to have little first-team future at Watford.

The former Sunderland man spent the back end of last season on loan at Nottingham Forest, and did an impressive job at the City Ground.
