Aston Villa consolidated third position in the Championship with an emphatic win on Tuesday night.

Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to heap praise on Conor Hourihane after he put in a brilliant performance for Steve Bruce’s side as they came away from Sunderland with a 3-0 win.
With the Black Cats at the bottom of the table, the Villans would have felt plenty of pressure on them as they look to keep themselves in the hunt for the automatic-promotion spots out of the Championship.

But they coped with the pressure extremely well to heap misery on Chris Coleman’s side and keep themselves within touching distance of the top two as they ran out comfortable winners.
One of the most impressive performers at the Stadium of Light was Conor Hourihane, who seemed to be in complete control in the middle of the park and was a real driving force for the Villans.

The 27-year-old has been hugely impressive throughout the season having scored nine goals in the Championship, and he would have hoped that he had made it 10 for the campaign after playing a vital role in Villa’s third – though it appears to have gone down as a Bryan Oviedo own goal.
The Villa fans have lauded Hourihane’s performance and commented on how influential he has become in a midfield that seems to have goals coming from every direction right now.
Here is the best of the reaction to Hourihane’s display…
