Aston Villa fans hate to tell Newcastle ‘I told you so…’

Ciaran Clark had a night he will want to forget for Newcastle United last night as they drew 2-2 at home to QPR.

The defender had to be bandaged up early after a clash of heads drew blood, and after producing a battling performance to stay on, he undid his good work with a calamitous own goal in the final minutes.

The result keeps Newcastle in second place, and means there is just a four point gap over Reading and five over Leeds, who both won again this week.

Clark was a summer signing from Championship rivals Aston Villa, and his switch has proved a shrewd move, with Newcastle up in second place and his former side languishing down in 14th.

When he sealed his surprise transfer, Villa fans were not too upset, more confused that he had become a top target for a promotion rival.

He has been a regular this season for Newcastle, making 23 league starts, and scoring at the right end twice.

Last night his own goal prompted plenty of ‘discussion’ among Villa supporters, who were quick to try and remind Newcastle supporters that they won this particular deal by shipping the 27-year-old out.
