Redknapp was announced as Birmingham boss until the end of the season today, after Giafranco Zola resigned at the weekend.
The 70-year-old boss’s first match in charge of Blues comes against fierce rivals Villa this weekend.
And claret and blues fans appear to feel that Redknapp’s arrival at St. Andrews will only add further spice to the atmosphere.
Villa are playing for pride in the Midlands derby, but Birmingham really need the three points.
Redknapp’s new side are looking nervously over their shoulders, after being dragged into a relegation battle.
Zola’s disastrous spell in charge ended after a 2-0 defeat to Burton Albion, which has left Birmingham’s position looking highly precarious.
Birmingham are currently just three points above the drop zone, and they sit in 20th place in the Championship table.
After taking on Villa, Birmingham face matches against Huddersfield Town and Bristol City.
