Aston Villa fans believe that they may have seen Alan Hutton’s final appearance for the club.

A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to react to Alan Hutton’s performance in the club’s defeat to Norwich City on the final day of the Championship season – with many suggesting that they expect the game to be the Scot’s final appearance for the Villans.
Hutton was one of the players that Dean Smith brought back into the side for Sunday’s game with the Canaries, with Villa heading into the clash as the one team within the play-offs who had secured their position in the table.
Villa suffered their first defeat since February as a late goal from Mario Vrancic saw the champions clinch the title with a 2-1 win at Villa Park.
And it appears that Hutton did not do enough, in some fans’ eyes, to force his way into Smith’s plans for the play-off semi-final with West Brom which starts this weekend.

The 34-year-old won just one challenge, according to Whoscored, and some of the supporters felt that he struggled to cope with the quality that Norwich had down Villa’s right flank.
Plenty of fans have paid tribute to the former Tottenham man who has spent the last eight years on the club’s books. There were certainly times when it looked like he would get nowhere near staying that long. And his stunning goal against Birmingham earlier this season was arguably the perfect symbol of his turnaround being completed.

But the supporters do not appear to be overly disappointed that he may well have been signing off as he likely takes a peripheral role during the play-off campaign.
