Aston Villa have announced that Alan Hutton has agreed a new contract with the Championship club.

Aston Villa fans have been reacting on Twitter to the news that the club confirmed on their official website that Alan Hutton has signed a new one-year contract with the club amid speculation linking him with a move elsewhere.
Hutton’s future has been a talking point for the last few months. Despite often struggling to win over the majority of the Villa fanbase during his time with the club, the former Scotland international has enjoyed a superb season this past year.

The 33-year-old played a key role in helping Steve Bruce’s men reach the play-off final, performing fantastically well in the semi-final victory over Middlesbrough when faced with the task of keeping Adama Traore quiet.
Villa’s failure to secure promotion led to plenty of questions about his future amid concerns about the financial state of the club. The Telegraph even reported in the wake of the Wembley defeat that the former Tottenham full-back would be leaving with Villa unable to afford fresh terms.

And it appeared that he may be on his way to one of their Championship rivals, with Nottinghamshire Live reporting that Nottingham Forest have held talks about a deal.
However, the club have now confirmed that he has signed a new contract at Villa Park that will run until the end of next season, and that has sparked a lot of discussion on social media.
The majority of the supporters appear to be delighted that Hutton has been handed the new deal as he has proved to be a superb servant in recent times. There is some confusion amongst a couple of fans, but the general consensus is that it is a very good piece of business.
Here is the best of the reaction…
