The 20-year-old, who has made several Villa matchday squads, will spent the rest of the season at Brunton Park.

Aston Villa have confirmed that attacking midfielder Callum O’Hare has joined Carlisle United on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old came through the ranks at Villa Park, progressing from the youth team to the Under-23s, and has made a number of senior appearances so far.

According to Transfermarkt, he has played nine times for the first team – four substitute appearances in the Championship and five starts in the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, plus numerous spots on the bench.

Carlisle boss Steven Pressley had been tracking O’Hare for some time, according to the News & Star, and is quoted as saying: “Although he’s a small player, he’s dynamic, has a real eye for goal and he creates. It’s really good bit of business for us.”

Here is how some Villa fans reacted on Twitter to O’Hare’s loan:

Following the return of Jack Sowerby to parent club Fleetwood Town, the Solihull-born youngster is expected to fill the attacking midfield spot in the Cumbrians squad as they chase promotion from League Two – they are fourth in the table, two points off the automatic promotion places.

O’Hare will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of fellow Silhillians Jack Grealish and Andre Green, the former shooting to prominence following a bright loan spell at Notts County in 2013-14, and Green having been recalled from a stint at Portsmouth in which he contributed to several goals despite limited game time.
