Remi Garde was in charge of Aston Villa for less than six months.

Remi Garde (C) Manager of Aston Villa looks on during the Barclays Premier League match between Swansea City and Aston Villa at Liberty Stadium on March 19, 2016 in Swansea, United Kingdom.

Aston Villa fans have reacted on Twitter after former manager Remi Garde was announced as MLS outfit Montreal Impact’s new boss on Wednesday evening.

Canadian side Impact announced on their website that 51-year-old Garde had taken over at the Olympic Stadium of Montreal, which is the Frenchman’s third spell in management after previously taking the reigns at Lyon and Villa.

Garde, who played for Premier League giants Arsenal during a three-year spell between 1996 and 1999, replaces Canadian boss Mauro Biello at the helm who was sacked towards the end of October.

Villa appointed Garde in November 2015, but he failed to last six months as he was dimissed by the Midlands giants in March 2016. The club was then relegated into the Championship.

It is widely believed among Villa fans that he was given an impossible task, as the club’s board failed to give him any kind of help in the January transfer window during his tenure.

Villa fans took to Twitter to express their views on Garde’s next step in management, with many wishing him all the best. One fan even recalled the Frenchman’s time at Villa Park, stating he “never stood a chance with those above him”.
