Aston Villa have reportedly made contact with James Collins and offered the defender a trial.

A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the reports emerging from The Telegraph which have suggested that the Championship side have taken James Collins on trial and are considering a potential deal for the defender.
The back-line has been a real Achilles heel for Bruce’s men so far this term. It was a poor summer in regards to strengthening their options in that area of the pitch, and that has been highlighted by Mile Jedinak featuring alongside James Chester.
Steve Bruce’s men have kept one clean sheet in the league this season, and that is perhaps why a move for Collins is now being considered by the Villans.

The news that Collins has moved a step closer to earning a contract with the club has seemingly divided a large section of the supporters on social media.
There are plenty of fans who believe that he could be a useful signing given the lack of options Bruce has left himself, but there are also those who are completely underwhelmed by the talks, especially when you consider that players such as John Terry and Robert Huth remain without a club.
