The Aston Villa midfielder has had a hand in more goals than any other midfielder in the Championship since the beginning of 2016/2017.

Aston Villa’s Conor Hourihane took his season tally to nine goals, becoming the first Villa midfielder since Gary Parker to reach that figure in 1993.
However, that is not the only impressive stat to have arisen since his late strike against Sheffield Wednesday which put the Villans into the lead, as the Republic of Ireland international now also tops the list when it comes to another impressive statistic.
No Championship midfielder has been directly involved in more goals than Villa’s midfield general since the beginning of the season, with the 27-year-old having bagged a stunning 16 goals and 16 assists.
As it stands, Hourihane’s Villa teammate Albert Adomah sits second with 16 goals and 13 assists, while Fulham’s Stefan Johansen is one behind with 17 goals and 11 assists.

The Irish midfielder has been right at the heart of Villa’s resurgence this season and has even gained international recognition for his contribution to the club, earning three caps since arriving from Barnsley.
Having started his career at Sunderland, but failing to earn a single Premier League appearance, Hourihane will no doubt be itching for a return to England’s top flight, as he looks to help his current team finish their season in style and earn promotion at the second time of asking.
Villa fans took to Twitter to express their feelings following news of the Irishman’s impressive new statistic and here is a round-up of some of the reaction:
