Aston Villa full-back Ahmed Elmohamady has extended his contract with the Premier League side.

A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that the club confirmed on their official website that Ahmed Elmohamady has signed a new contract with the Villans.
Elmohamady has started his third campaign with the club by being named in both of Dean Smith’s starting lineups. The 31-year-old played an important role in helping Villa get promoted to the Premier League last season, contributing eight assists in the Championship.
And he has been rewarded for his consistency by being handed a new deal, with the club confirming on their official website that his terms have been extended by 12 months.
There had been a little speculation surrounding the Egypt international while the summer transfer window was open. The Sun reported Newcastle boss Steve Bruce wanted to sign the full-back once again, having previously taken him to Sunderland, Hull and Villa, but obviously, no move would take place.

And it appears that the large majority of Villa supporters on social media are pleased that Elmohamady has now been tied down for slightly longer.
While he is not one of the headline-grabbing players in Smith’s squad, he has established himself as a very dependable option, who can also provide some versatility. And thus, many fans feel that it is a shrewd move from the Villans to agree this deal.
