Aston Villa have failed with a move for Celta Vigo’s Pione Sisto.

Aston Villa signed three wingers over the summer transfer window, but they seemingly failed to sign fourth before the transfer deadline.
Villa secured Anwar El Ghazi on a permanent basis, and also brought in Jota from Birmingham City and Trezeguet from Kasimpasa, bolstering Dean Smith’s side.
No move materialised for Brentford’s Said Benrahma though, and Marca claim that Villa then moved for Celta Vigo ace Pione Sisto ahead of the deadline.
Villa allegedly offered €10million (£9.3million) for Sisto, whilst also offering him a €1million salary, meaning he’d have been earning around £18,000-a-week at Villa Park.
That was a ‘significant’ increase on his Celta earnings, but Sisto snubbed the move despite being told that he would only be a backup player this season.
Sisto, 24, has impressed in the past with his pace and dribbling ability, but hasn’t quite lived up to his potential, registering just two goals and one assist in La Liga last season whilst starting just eight times.

It’s a surprise that Sisto didn’t move on, and with ex-Celta man Juanfran on Villa’s recruitment team, it’s not hard to see where this find came from.
Celta were reportedly disappointed that Sisto didn’t make the move, and some Villa fans felt the same way, believing his snub is ‘annoying’ as he’s a class player who could have brought a lot to Smith’s side.
Others think that snubbing Villa is his loss, and some didn’t want him anyway, believing that Villa must now move on and look at other wingers when the transfer window re-opens rather than going back in for the Danish international.
