Aston Villa slipped to their second defeat under Steve Bruce as they were beaten by the Canaries at Carrow Road.

Aston Villa fans have been left less than impressed with Pierluigi Gollini after Steve Bruce’s side lost 1-0 to Norwich City at Carrow Road on Tuesday night.

The Villans went into the game off the back of a great run that had seen them lose just one of their nine games since Bruce’s appointment.

However, they fell to the narrow defeat against the Canaries thanks to a long-range goal from Nelson Oliveira shortly after the hour-mark.

While it was a smart finish from the Portuguese striker, the goal prompted several disgruntled Villa fans to take to Twitter to express their frustration at Gollini’s role in the winner.

The effort from Oliveira was arguably fairly tame given how far out it had come from, but appeared to find the net due to the fact that the Italian appeared to be well off his line and well over towards the left-hand side of his goal.

What angered several Villa fans even further was the fact that the former Verona man, perhaps already resigned to the idea that he was not going to be able to get near the attempt, did not dive to try and keep the ball out of his net.

While Gollini has shown glimpses of real quality since his arrival in the summer, and his age arguably means that he deserves time to learn his trade, it must be noted that it was not his first mistake for the club. And it appears that some of the Villa supporters are beginning to lose patience with the stopper following this latest error.
