Sunderland are currently linked with four Aston Villa players.

Aston Villa fans have mocked Sunderland, with rumours emerging that Simon Grayson’s side are interested in a whole host of their players.

The Sunderland Echo have suggested that both Villa’s Tommy Elphick and Alan Hutton are on Sunderland’s radar.

The Black Cats have also been linked with Ross McCormack and Micah Richards in the Daily Express.

And Villa fans are desperately hoping that Sunderland will take all four of the quartet off their hands.

McCormack, Hutton, Richards and Elphick may all have previously impressed at Championship level and higher, but they have struggled badly at Villa.

The four players appear to have no future at Steve Bruce’s side, after being deemed surplus to requirements.

If Villa can offload the collection of fringe players, it will free up some money to spend on the new additions which Bruce wants, as they are all high earners.

As things stand, Villa are regarded as more likely promotion contenders than Sunderland next season by the bookies.
