Aston Villa’s preparations for the new Premier League season have been dented today as the club confirmed the departure of John Terry.
Quality signings have been landed in Ashley Young and Emiliano Buendia, and there should be more to come with Dean Smith’s men looking to kick on this coming season.
However, there has been a coaching departure today with John Terry deciding it’s time for him to move on after four years at Villa Park.
Terry joined Villa as a player back in 2017, spending one season on the pitch before spending a couple of months away and then coming back to join Smith’s coaching team.
Terry’s official job title was ‘assistant head coach’ at Villa Park, and he has been credited with helping Villa’s defenders progress, such as Ezri Konsa and Tyrone Mings.
The former England captain now moves on, and could head into a managerial job in the near future having made it clear that he would like to be a manager one day.

Villa fans have been taking to Twitter to react, with many stating they are gutted to see Terry leave after playing such a key role in the club’s rise in recent years.
Others really don’t like this news at all and hope it doesn’t lead to more departures in the coming weeks, with demands for the club to announce Leon Bailey’s arrival to balance things out.
