The Villa goalkeeper was the hero in the Championship playoff semi-final penalty shootout win against West Brom.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Jed Steer has taken to Twitter with a message for the club’s fans following his new contract signature with the newly promoted outfit.
Having spent the first half of last season on loan at Charlton Athletic, the 26-year-old was a regular in Villa’s team from February onwards.
Steer’s performances were part of the team’s surge up the Championship table, culminating in a top-six finish and a victorious playoff campaign which earned them promotion to the Premier League.
The stopper saved two penalties in Villa’s semi-final shootout win over West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns in May.
Steer also started the Wembley final against Derby County in which Dean Smith’s side won 2-1 for a return to the top flight – commonly said to be worth £170million to the winning club (Business Desk).
On Thursday, the official Villa website announced that Steer had put pen to paper on a four-year contract extension that will see him remain at the West Midlands club until 2023.
Here is what the keeper wrote on his personal Twitter account:
The tweet went down well with the Villa fanbase, some of whom took to the social media platform to praise and congratulate him:
