Aston Villa won 3-1 against Sheffield Wednesday yesterday, but Steve Bruce didn’t feel the result was fair.

Aston Villa fans have hit back at Sheffield Wednesday boss Steve Bruce’s post-match comments.

Bruce told the Birmingham Mail that Wednesday ‘nearly blew Villa away’ in yesterday’s match at Hillsborough, even though they slipped to a defeat.

And claret and blues supporters feel that Bruce’s post-match comments were very similar to the ones he made when he was in charge at Villa Park.

Wednesday did arguably have the better of the play in the second half, but they were unable to take advantage.

Steven Fletcher missed a penalty for the Owls when the scores were locked at 1-1, and Villa made the home side pay.

Dean Smith’s side scored twice in injury time to seal a hugely important three points.

Villa have significantly strengthened their place in the play offs, while Wednesday’s promotion hopes now look very slim.
