Charlie Austin is reportedly set to leave Southampton this month and Aston Villa are rumoured to be keen on his services.

Aston Villa fans on Twitter have stated that they don’t need Southampton striker Charlie Austin amid speculation linking him with the Championship club.
The Telegraph claims that the 29-year-old attacker is set to leave St Mary’s this month as he looks for regular game time, with Villa amoung a number of clubs interested in his services.
It is said that Villa are looking to bolster their attacking line with Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham unlikely to stay beyond his season-long loan deal.
When the news broke, many Villa fans felt that they don’t need a player like him at the club because they are already stocked in that area.
Another stated that the reported news is ‘too good to be true’ as Austin does have some pedigree in the second tier of English football.
During his career, he has represented the likes of QPR and Burnley in the second tier of English football, scoring an impressive 66 goals from his 129 league matches, according to transfermarkt.
Here is a selection of Villa supporters on Twitter reacting to their reported interest in Austin:
At this moment in time, Villa have the likes of Jonathan Kodjia, Abraham, Scott Hogan and Keinan Davis who can occupy that forward role for Dean Smith’s side.
But in the summer, Abraham’s loan deal will end and Villa will be relying upon senior figures Kodjia and Hogan for the goals – the latter has struggled to prove his worth since moving to the club in January 2017.
Villa, who will be still hoping to finsih in the playoff places, recorded a much-needed win against Ipswich Town at the weekend to reduce the gap on the Championship’s top-six to four points.
