Colkett is being linked with both Villa and Swedish side Ostersunds.

Aston Villa are reportedly in the midst of a tug of war between themselves and Swedish side Ostersunds FK for Chelsea youngster Charlie Colkett – and Villa fans expect the midfielder to choose Villa Park.

The Mirror claim Aston Villa and Ostersunds are both interested in the 22-year-old midfielder, who struggled to hold down a place at League One side Shrewsbury Town during the first half of the season.

He has since returned to Chelsea this month, with the Shrews deciding against renewing his contract. Colkett is now in the final months of his contract, and is available to non-English clubs on a pre-contract basis.

That could see Ostersunds, who faced Arsenal in the Europa League last season and were managed by now-Swansea manager Graham Potter, hold an advantage in the race to sign Colkett by landing him on a free.

But Villa have a playing card of their own, in the form of Chelsea legend John Terry who is Dean Smith’s assistant. Playing under the Chelsea legend will surely prove tantalising for the midfielder.

Colkett has represented England at every youth level up until the Under-20’s, but is yet to make a senior appearance for the Blues. He has been on loan at Vitesse, Bristol Rovers and Swindon Town.

Villa fans are confident that their club will win the race to sign Colkett, and some are confident that he could be a good signing for the Championship outfit. The report claims both sides want the player on loan.
