Aston Villa are pursuing Thierry Henry as their new manager.
Aston Villa remain in the hunt for a new manager after sacking Steve Bruce last week, and Thierry Henry has been one of the leading names for the position.
Villa moved on from Bruce after just one win in nine games, with his final match coming in a 3-3 home draw against Preston North End – a game which Villa were leading 2-0 at half time.
Now, a host of names are in the frame for the job, but Thierry Henry has been one of the key names in the frame ever since Bruce’s exit, and even over the summer when Bruce’s job was in question.
Whilst there are new links to him taking over former club Monaco, Henry remains a frontrunner for the Villa job, despite having no managerial experience behind him to date.
The 41-year-old has been coaching with Belgium for the last two years, but his managerial inexperience has resulted in many believing that he needs an experienced director of football above him.
Villa have been targeting a new DoF since sacking European scout Ian Atkins last month, and whilst a host of names have been linked, fans think they’ve found the ideal candidate.
Villa fans have been taking to Twitter to suggest that former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger – who managed Henry at Arsenal and Monaco – would be ideal, having left his position as Gunner boss over the summer.
Supporters are dreaming of the duo reuniting at Villa Park, believing that the pair serving as a double act at Villa Park makes the most sense – but whether Villa could really attract the Frenchman, even if Henry is on board, is unclear.
