Elphick left Aston Villa in the summer to join Hull City on loan.

Aston Villa’s lack of options at centre-back remain a pressing concern among fans after Steve Bruce failed to add to just James Chester and Axel Tuanzebe as options in the summer – and fans have called on the club to recall Tommy Elphick.
Bruce allowed Elphick, 31, to join Hull on a season-long loan where he has since become first choice, starting and finishing Hull’s last nine Championship outings.
It left Villa with only Chester and Tuanzebe to choose from, while a last-minute move to sign Harold Moukoudi fell through as the Le Havre defender preferred to remain in France despite being shown around Villa Park.
Meanwhile, Roberto Di Matteo signing Elphick has been consistent during Hull’s season so far, with his best performance perhaps coming against fellow relegation rivals Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

Hull earned a 1-0 win away from home, but it was perhaps Elphick’s performance that was most important to Nigel Adkins’ side. So much so, the former Bournemouth defender was named in WhoScored’s Team of the Week.
Aston Villa fans reacted to Elphick’s inclusion in the Team of the Week, urging their club to bring the player back to Villa Park. Elphick has less than a year remaining on his £25,000-a-week deal.
