Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to pile praise on Matty Cash, despite suffering a 3-0 defeat to Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds.
Dean Smith’s men were humbled by the Yorkshire-based outfit on their own turf at Villa Park, after Patrick Bamford netted a hat-trick – including two world-class finishes.
While a few Villa stars failed to bring their A-game, Cash could leave Villa Park with his head held high despite the result.
According to SofaScore, the 23-year-old completed an impressive five tackles against Bielsa’s men, while also registering four interceptions and three clearances.
He was defensively solid despite Jack Harrison’s trickery down the left flank – Cash was only dribbled past on one occasion.

The £16 million signing from Nottingham Forest won seven ground duels from an attempted ten, while also winning his one and only aerial duel.
He also completed 18 passes from an attempted 23, and drew two fouls from Leeds while also giving two away.
Additionally, Villa’s No.2 completed three long-range passes from an attempted five, and had 49 touches of the ball.

It was a tough night for Cash, but the supporters on Twitter could clearly see how hard he tried.
Let’s see what they’ve been saying about the right-back’s display against Leeds…
