Aston Villa Manager Roberto Di Matteo applauds their fans
Aston Villa fans have taken to social media to voice their frustration after watching their side concede yet another late goal during their Championship clash with Barnsley.
After a goalless first hour at Oakwell, Roberto Di Matteo’s men took the lead through Jordan Ayew’s tidy finish. However, the Villans had to settle for their seventh draw in 10 games as Sam Winnall equalised in the dying seconds.
Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish looks dejected after the final whistle
Unfortunately for Villa, dropping points in the final minutes of games has been an all too regular occurrence this season. The Tykes’ goal was the sixth that they have conceded in the last 10 minutes this term, which has cost them nine points.
Unsurprisingly, some Villa supporters have already suggested that a change of manager needs to be made. While Di Matteo has won the Champions League previously, the Italian has struggled to make a positive impact during his time in the second tier, and now some are questioning whether he is the right man to take them forward.
Former England manager Sam Allardyce
And with this latest result coming just hours after it was announced that Sam Allardyce’s time as England manager has come to an end, there were a handful of fans asking for Big Sam to be the man to replace Di Matteo.
Other names mentioned amongst disgruntled fans included one of their old bosses, a Championship veteran and, perhaps surprisingly, the manager of their bitter rivals.
