Aston Villa fans have begun to call for Brentford boss Dean Smith to take charge, after their latest defeat.

Steve Bruce has divided opinion at Villa, even when the side have been in good form, with his style of play often drawing criticism.

And Villa’s latest defeat to Norwich City has been the final straw for some claret and blues fans.

Villa now look certain to miss out on the automatic promotion spaces, despite Cardiff City’s defeat on Friday evening.

And some Villa fans are even calling for Smith to be brought in now, to replace Bruce for the play offs.

Smith has impressed with the job he has done at Brentford, as he has guided the Bees into the top-half on a limited budget.

Smith was also born in the Midlands, so knows Villa well, having grown up near the club.

Villa are currently in fourth position in the Championship table, but have won just one of their last five matches.
