Mile Jedinak was reportedly set for the Aston Villa exit in the summer but eventually remained with Steve Bruce’s Championship chasers.

Reports back in April from The Sun stating that Aston Villa were tempted to cash in on Mile Jedinak raised quite a few eyebrows.
The Australian had fought back from a difficult start to life at Villa to become a key player under Steve Bruce and one of the first names on the team-sheet. Fans, then, were stunned at suggestions that the grizzled midfielder could be leaving after just one year.
So it was little surprise that Villa, despite being restricted by Financial Fair Play sanctions, decided against selling one of their most consistent players and a man who had led Crystal Palace to promotion from the Championship back in 2013.

Though with funds light on the ground again ahead of the January transfer window, Villa may find themselves in a position where they need to sell in order to improve their squad in the New Year.
And the future of 33-year-old Jedinak could once again come under question. With only five starts to his name in an injury-hit season, the Aussie warrior has been in and out of the side and Steve Bruce now appears to be favouring Glenn Whelan in the defensive midfield role.
And even when Jedinak has featured this season, he has not quite performance with the same brute strength and impenetrable vigour as in his 2016/17 vintage.

At 33, and with his limbs starting to ache, it has become clear that Jedinak simply cannot carry on forever and, if a decent offer was to arrive, Villa should give it serious thought.
Even the most staunch Jedinak supporters would understand if Villa sold the veteran powerhouse to fund a new striker in January.
