Aston Villa eye £12m Inter Milan star as Unai Emery’s first summer signing

Aston Villa have reportedly joined the race to sign Inter Milan attacker Joaquin Correa, with the Italian giants ready to sell the Argentine forward at all costs this summer.

According to Inter Live, the Nerazzurri want the former Lazio man sold ‘immediately’, with Inter valuing Correa at €15m (£12m) amid interest from Unai Emery’s Villa, with Everton and West Ham also chasing the 28-year-old striker.

Having failed to live up to expectations at the San Siro, Inter are keen to offload Correa this summer to help fund the squad for new signings, which could help Villa greatly in their quest to bring the South American attacker to Villa Park in the coming weeks.

Yet despite Correa’s poor form for Inter this season, there’s hope that Emery could be the man to turn the Argentine’s fortunes around, with the Villa boss transforming the likes of Ollie Watkins and Tyrone Mings in his brief time back in the Premier League.

Indeed, Villa’s style of play under Emery could suit a player like Correa, with the versatile attacker one of the few forwards in Europe who could consider himself a natural second-striker, a position that might lead to some positive results in Birmingham.

Moreover, with Inter keen to sell Correa at all costs and demanding a reasonable transfer fee of just £12m, Villa could work their transfer magic and get a deal done before anyone has had a chance to blink, with the Argentine solid attacking depth for the likes of Watkins.

Correa’s time in the blue half of Milan has been disappointing, to say the least, yet with Inter wanting just £12m for the 28-year-old and a club as big as Villa now in the mix, there’s every chance that Emery could sanction a move for the striker, who could be worth the punt this summer.

With European football a real possibility for Villa, adding proven talents such as Correa to their squad could be huge in Emery leading his new club to success on the continent, and the Inter outcast could work well under the Spanish coach in the Premier League next season.
