Aston Villa are interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach defensive midfielder Denis Zakaria, according to The Daily Mail.
The report has named Zakaria among the players Villa like as potential targets in the January transfer window.
How good is Denis Zakaria?
In our opinion, Zakaria is a very good defensive midfielder who has progressed and developed a lot over the past few years.
The Switzerland international is a regular in the Monchengladbach first team and is still a few years away from hitting his prime.
After all, Zakaria is only 25 at the moment.

The midfielder has played 124 matches in the Bundesliga and has won 55 of them.
Zakaria, who is also able to play as a centre-back, wants to be like Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogo and Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira.
The Switzerland international is quoted as saying on Bundesliga.com: “I’ve been compared to [Patrick] Vieira and [Paul] Pogba – two more players I really respect and, in a way, see as role models. When I watch videos of them I think I’d like to play that way.”
According to Bundesliga.com, Zakaria is a fine passer, great in the tackle, works hard and has a lot of energy.
So, in our opinion, the Monchengladbach star would be a very good signing for Villa.
The Bundesliga club have announced that Zakaria will leave as a free agent when his current contract runs out at the end of the season.
