Paul Merson has said on Sky Sports News (2:13pm, March 5, 2022) that Aston Villa striker Danny Ings will explode next season.

The former Arsenal and Villa star has said that Ings is a very good striker, adding that he is a fan of the former Liverpool and Southampton player.

The Sky Sports pundit believes that the 29-year-old will be a star for Villa next season.

Merson said: “He is a special player. Players will have to get used to him. He has great vision. When you are playing with someone like him, it saves time. Next season will be a big season. I am a big fan of Danny Ings.”

Aston Villa should have faith in Danny Ings

In our view, Villa fans should maintain their faith in Ings.

Yes, the striker is not having the best of times at Villa, but we should not forget his track record.

The English striker has scored 60 goals in 160 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

Villa manager Steven Gerrard will be fully aware of how good Ings is, and we could see him turn on the style next season.

Ings has made 16 starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League for Villa so far this season.

The 29-year-old striker has scored five goals and provided four assists in those games.

In our opinion, a pre-season with Gerrard could really help Ings get back to his best.
